Tools Without AI (toolswithoutai.com) is a privacy-first, static frontend of free browser utilities. Tools run entirely on your device using client-side JavaScript, WebAssembly, and the File API. This policy describes that design, the limited data involved in operating a public website, and third-party advertising and analytics used to fund the service.

Files and tool input

Tools process data locally in your browser. We do not provide a file-upload API, we do not receive the contents of files you open in a tool, and we do not store those files on our servers. There is no server-side processing of your documents, no account, and no AI model that ingests your input. If you close the tab, the in-memory work is gone unless you downloaded a result to your own device.

What we collect vs. what we do not

We do not collect, upload, store, or retain the contents of files or text you process in our tools. Independently of the tools, the following limited personal data may be processed to operate and fund the public website:

  • Hosting and security logs (IP address, user agent, requested URL, and time) recorded by our hosting provider;
  • A theme preference in local storage;
  • Advertising cookies and identifiers set by Google and its partners (AdSense);
  • Analytics cookies and events as described below;
  • The content of emails you choose to send us.

Advertising and analytics cookies are not a channel for harvesting tool files. They do not give us access to PDFs, JSON, images, or other payloads you process locally.

Accounts

There are no user accounts. We do not ask you to register to use a tool.

Hosting and logs

The website is served over HTTPS by a hosting provider. Standard web logs may be recorded by that provider for security and reliability. Those logs are not used to reconstruct files you processed in a tool.

Cookies, local storage, and advertising

A theme preference may be stored in local storage so dark or light mode persists. We do not use that storage to hold your files, file names, or tool output.

This site is free to use and is supported by third-party advertising, including Google AdSense. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies (including advertising cookies historically associated with DoubleClick) to serve ads based on a user’s prior visits to this website or other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.

These advertising cookies and identifiers are set by Google and its advertising partners—not by our tools. They are used to fund the site (including non-personalized ads where required). They are not used by us to read, upload, store, or reconstruct files or text you process in a tool. We publish an ads.txt record listing authorized digital sellers for this domain.

You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. Alternatively, you can opt out of some third-party vendors’ use of cookies for personalized advertising at www.aboutads.info and, for users in Europe, at www.youronlinechoices.eu. You can also read how Google uses cookies in advertising at policies.google.com/technologies/ads.

For users in the EEA, UK, and Switzerland, Google AdSense Privacy & messaging (Google’s certified CMP, IAB TCF) collects consent for advertising cookies and ad personalization. We do not ship a separate first-party banner. You can change or withdraw that choice through the Google-provided message (including “Manage options” / privacy settings on subsequent visits), your browser controls, Google Ads Settings, and the industry opt-out pages linked above. Google Consent Mode, when enabled in AdSense, applies those choices to other Google tags on this site (including Analytics).

Analytics

We use Google Analytics (gtag.js), provided by Google LLC, to understand aggregated site usage: page views, which tool page was opened, whether a file was selected (a count only), download events (file type only), and control labels. We configure Analytics so that we do not send file contents, file names, passwords, tokens, pasted text, or tool output to Google Analytics.

Google Analytics may set cookies and collect standard Internet log and device data (for example approximate location derived from IP, browser type, and referring URL) under Google’s policies: policies.google.com/privacy and how Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services. This measurement is separate from local tool processing. We do not currently load a separate error-monitoring vendor.

Data retention

Tool input lives in the tab’s memory (and whatever you download). We have no user-file store to retain. Hosting logs follow the provider’s retention window. Advertising and analytics cookies last according to each vendor’s settings until you delete them or opt out.

Third-party services

The HTML, scripts, and ads that make up this website are hosted and delivered by third parties, including our hosting provider and Google (AdSense and Analytics). Fonts are self-hosted via next/font. Tools do not call our servers with your files. Third-party ad and analytics companies have their own privacy policies; we do not control how they independently use cookies once those scripts run.

Who is responsible (controller)

For personal data processed in connection with operating this website (hosting logs, cookies or similar technologies we authorize, and email you send us), the controller is the operator of Tools Without AI (toolswithoutai.com), contact hello@toolswithoutai.com. Google LLC and other advertising or analytics vendors act as independent controllers or, where applicable, processors for their own technologies. We are not the controller of files you open in a tool: those files are processed in your browser and are not transmitted to our servers.

Legal bases (GDPR / UK GDPR)

Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies: we process hosting and security logs on the basis of legitimate interests in operating a secure website; we process emails you send on the basis of our legitimate interests in responding (or contract if you request a specific service); we process strictly necessary storage as necessary to provide the site. Non-essential cookies and similar technologies for advertising and analytics are used only with your consent where required, obtained through Google’s AdSense Privacy & messaging CMP. Withdrawal of consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal.

You have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, object, and data portability, and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. Because we do not receive tool files, we cannot access or delete file contents that never left your device. Requests about cookies, logs, or emails: use the contact address below.

Google and other vendors may transfer data to the United States. Where required, they rely on adequacy decisions, Standard Contractual Clauses, or other lawful transfer mechanisms described in their policies.

California (CCPA / CPRA)

In the last 12 months we have not sold personal information for money. We may “share” personal information (as defined by the CPRA) for cross-context behavioral advertising through Google AdSense and its partners: identifiers such as cookie IDs, IP address, device and browser data, and browsing activity on this site. We do not share the contents of files you process in tools; we never receive those files.

California residents may request to know, delete, or correct personal information we hold, and to opt out of sale or sharing. To opt out of personalized or cross-context advertising, use Google Ads Settings, aboutads.info/choices, enable Global Privacy Control (GPC) in a supporting browser (Google AdSense receives GPC from users in applicable U.S. states and applies Restricted Data Processing to those ad requests; we also offer Google’s U.S. state privacy message in AdSense Privacy & messaging), and email hello@toolswithoutai.com with the subject “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information.” We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights. We do not have actual knowledge that we sell or share the personal information of consumers under 16.

Children

This website is a general-audience utility site. It is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 where that is the relevant age). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information other than ordinary public website logs, contact us and we will delete what we control.

The contact page opens your own email client via mailto:. We do not host a form-processing backend. If you email us, we receive whatever you send to hello@toolswithoutai.com.
