What is compress image to a target size?
A target-size image compressor shrinks a JPG, PNG, or WebP until the file is at or under a size you choose, such as 100KB. Quality is searched in the browser; the original is not uploaded.
How to use it
- Add a JPG, PNG, or WebP from your device.
- Enter a target size in KB (for example 100 or 200).
- Download the compressed image. Encoding happens in this tab.
When to use it
Portals, visa forms, and CMS fields often cap uploads at 100–200KB. Hitting that cap locally avoids a third-party “optimizer” seeing the photo.
Notes
Unlike a generic “compress 70%” slider, this tool treats the byte budget as the goal. PNG may not reach a tiny target; JPEG or WebP usually can.
Also useful
If you also need to strip GPS and camera tags, use Remove EXIF data after you hit the size cap. Remove EXIF data.
Frequently asked questions
Are my files uploaded?
No. This tool runs in your browser. Files and text stay on your device and are not sent to our servers.
Does this use AI?
No. It is a deterministic utility. There is no model and no third-party processing of your data.
Can I compress an image to 100KB?
Yes. Set the target to 100. The tool searches JPEG/WebP quality until the file is at or under that size, or tells you if it is not possible.
